Biota (n).: The living organisms of an area; the flora and fauna together

Giving Back

Biota believes in supporting community, scientific and education endeavours. We provide financial support for community charities, conference sponsorships and research partnerships. Biotans also freely give their time and skills to participate in community and educational programmes.

Research grants and publications

UWA Honours Grant

Since 2001, Biota has provided an annual grant to support Honours research projects at the University of Western Australia. Our grant is available for funding support for projects on the ecology or evolutionary biology of native fauna.

CSIRO Scientists in Schools

Scientists in Schools is a national program that creates and supports long-term partnerships between school teachers and scientists. Biota scientists volunteer their enthusiasm and skills to inspire and engage school children in biology.

UWA Lectures and Project Supervision

Senior Biota zoologists give their time to prepare and give guest lectures as part of the ecology and conservation biology courses at the University of Western Australia. Several Honours projects have also been developed by Biota personnel, and our scientists have acted as external supervisors for both group and individual Honours students.
